Chapter 1

Posted by Tom on August 29, 2002

It’s like picking up a book by a famous author.

You know you’re in for a good story before you even open the cover.

But you savor every moment…

You read the acknowledgements
the preface
the introduction
the table of contents

And then you come to…

Chapter 1

4 days, 2 hours, 24 minutes, 15 seconds…

What’s the status, Tom?

Posted 8/28/2002 at 12:47 AM by sconeGrl

See, the cool thing about reading your site is that, unless the they already know you and what’s going on in your life, nobody has any idea what you’re talking about!

Hold your breath.  It makes the time go faster.

Brease

Posted by Tom on August 16, 2002

Rolling thunder in the distant background.

The air is fresh and clean.

Everything looks different.

Life is much more valuable now.

A calm brease rustles the leaves in the trees.

I think I’ll take a nap.

Letting Go

Posted by Tom on August 14, 2002

Change.

A new chapter.

The confrontation.

My life or His?

I’ve always said His, but this time He asked me if I meant it.

I’m hanging off a cliff…

To let go would be certain peril, but the Lord asks me one question: “Do you trust Me with your life?”

I’m letting go…

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you…

…Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy…

…Who are these that fly along like clouds,
like doves to their nests?”

Isaiah 60:1-2,5a,8

Fly

Posted by Tom on August 10, 2002

Three more days.

Is it serious?

Is it all in my mind?

Can it be fixed?

Peace and tranquility are the only known treatments so far… but it’s much easier to just be anxious.

It would probably be much easier if I had more than one hour of sleep last night.

So many unanswered questions…

I must wait.

I must have my strength renewed.

I must fly above the clouds.

“Fear and trembling have beset me;
horror has overwhelmed me.

I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest-

I would flee far away
and stay in the desert;”

Psalm 55:5-7

Why?

Posted by Tom on August 8, 2002

Why?

Why am I created to need others?

One time I was self-sufficient… then the clouds came.

Now I can’t be alone.

Vulnerability.

Risk.

Support.

The clouds are starting to part.

Thank you.

Matrix

Posted by Tom on August 6, 2002

“The Matrix is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.” – Morpheus (“The Matrix”)Perception is everything.

We see through a glass darkly.

The truth is out there… waiting for us.

“…you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” - Jesus (John 8:32)

Peace

Posted by Tom on August 5, 2002

These last few days have actually been some of the darkest days I’ve known.  For once, I actually doubted all of the hopes and dreams I’ve ever had.

There is a tearing down and rebuilding taking place in my life right now.  Things are beginning to reveal themselves for what they are.  What is not of value is being removed… the isolation, the fear, the pride.  What is of value is being built up… friendships, faith, humbleness, foundations for the rest of my life.

While the clouds may be thick at times and the waves may be tossing back and forth, now is the time to rest.

Peace.

Be still.

The Zone

Posted by Tom on August 2, 2002

The Zone is a place where fear does not exist. Anxiety does not follow you.

Bitterness and anger are foreign.

It is where reality is clear and truth prevails.

It is that place where the answers make sense and vision is focused.

It is where we see the true value of the treasures in our lives.

It is where we learn to let go.

It is where we learn to fly.

It is you as you are in your innermost being alone with the One who holds the entire universe in the palm of His hand.

Tom-
I hope you use this as an outlet.
Public or Private
Spout off fears and unorthadox doubts
Honesty and Truth.

There’s something about sending your thoughts
Off into Ether
And knowing your prayers are more concrete
and dreams are more real

Written down as monuments,
Roadsigns and Altars.
May you become ready for the uncertainty
We call adventure.
