Stallin’, stallin’, stallin’,

Through the house they’re crawlin’

Droopy eyelids fallin’

Naptime!

Little people grinnin’

The battle I’m not winnin’

I think I’ve reached the end of the line.

Clean it up!  Move along!

Read a book!  Sing a song!

Sleepyhead!  Get in bed!

Naptime!

Don’t you fuss! Listen here!

Hurry now!  Move your rear!

Give a hug, give a kiss,

Naptime!

Though they  rage and rail,

Fightin’ tooth and nail,

They shall not prevail!

Naptime!

In the hall, one creepin’

“But Mommy, I’m done sleepin’!”

Dear Lord, keep me from freakin’–

Naptime!

Back to bed!  Here we go!

Hurry, pee!  Not so slow!

No snacks!  Don’t talk back!

Naptime!

Here’s your drink!  I can’t think!

Uh-oh!  What’s that stink?

Must I push?  Move your tush!

Naptime!

Temper tantrums throwin’

My exhaustion’s growin’

Why’s the neighbor mowin’?!?

Naptime!

Of my bed I’m dreamin’

What’s this? I hear no screamin’

Oh glory be, it’s finally

Naptime!

Now

A day has 24 hours
Each hour filled with unceasing thoughts
One day my anxieties will be put to rest

A day in the future is a blank page
A day in the past is a guide
One day I will find balance

A day is like a thousand years
A thousand years is like a day
One day I will marry and raise a family

The only thing one day does not have
Is now
One day at a time

Waking Up

Peace and quiet.

Love and support.

Family and friendship.

The simple things in life that we often forget… neglect.

They’re so essential… valuable.

Only after awhile do we realize where we’ve been all this time.

And we find ourselves

Waking up to a new day.

The Pitch

It happens often unexpectedly.

Life throws you a curve ball.

You can either duck and cover…

Or hit it out of the park.

Hello

Random images swirling in my head

I’m on a train, going nowhere

The track has weird curves
I don’t know how we are staying on course

The conductor’s steady hand keeps us on track

Suddenly, I hear strange tones
Foreign, yet vaguely familiar…

The conductor looks at me as if it’s time for me to do something
I’m not sure what

The tones get louder

Finally, I roll out of the train and stumble across the soft, cushy carpet

Hello alarm clock

Grogginess

Yawn

I rub my eyes

I stumble into the bathroom and flip the switch

Dizziness and confusion flood my senses

Hello light

Time passes

The shower calls my name

“Come to me… let me introduce your day with my warm embrace.”

I am haplessly caught in its trance

It becons for me again and I am drawn to it

I open the doors and reach for the faucet

Far above, the shower watches me in silence

I turn the knob

A blast of cold water assaults the head of yet another weary victim

Hello shower

The week is over.

Lot’s of great memories.

No regrets.

7 more months seems like an eternity.

It will be over sooner than I think.

Time to prepare.

Thanks, Christy… you’re the best!

Something, Somewhere
Phil Keaggy, Wes King, Scott Denté

Take my picture steal my soul
Put me somewhere you’re in control
Call me something you understand
But you cannot hammer down a journey man

I am neither this nor that
I’m not here or there
I am in between something
Something and somewhere

Well I would like to say
That everything works just one way
And I’m sorry but I can’t
‘Cause all the answers are not at my command

So I’ll fly with what I know
But I’ll step lightly where I land

I am neither this nor that
I’m not here or there
I am in between something
Something and somewhere

A pilgrim in progress
A wish that’s on the way
Hidden for the moment
But this is where I am today

Jacob labored for RAchel 7 years, and it seemed as but a day.  Heck, 7 months is nothing!  We can do it. . . (maybe it went fast because he was hanging out at her house all day!)

Thank you for treating me better than anyone I have ever met.

Thank you for knocking my socks off.

*sigh*

Love,

Christy

It’s like picking up a book by a famous author.

You know you’re in for a good story before you even open the cover.

But you savor every moment…

You read the acknowledgements
the preface
the introduction
the table of contents

And then you come to…

Chapter 1

4 days, 2 hours, 24 minutes, 15 seconds…

Brease

Rolling thunder in the distant background.

The air is fresh and clean.

Everything looks different.

Life is much more valuable now.

A calm brease rustles the leaves in the trees.

I think I’ll take a nap.

Change.

A new chapter.

The confrontation.

My life or His?

I’ve always said His, but this time He asked me if I meant it.

I’m hanging off a cliff…

To let go would be certain peril, but the Lord asks me one question: “Do you trust Me with your life?”

I’m letting go…

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you…

…Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy…

…Who are these that fly along like clouds,
like doves to their nests?”

Isaiah 60:1-2,5a,8
